Indian Army is a respectable name in itself that recruits, then trains and then absorbs the Indian citizens for several different posts in the officer and several other ranks.

For the Officers, the Indian Army recruits on the basis of Permanent Commission (absorption takes place till retirement) and the Short Service Commission (for a tenure of 5 years) basis. All the candidates are required to qualify the tests for the popular and well known National Defense Academy (NDA) or the other option is the Indian Military Academy (IMA) for joining Army as a permanent commission. In order to get entry into Indian Army through IMA, the candidates are required to have the option of Direct Entry, University entry scheme, Engineering Graduate Entry, University entry Scheme and the last option is 10+2 PCM (Technical) Entry scheme. All these options are available for you. Any candidate who is a graduate and is under 19 to 24 years of age is perfect for the Direct entry for which he needs to appear for the Combined Defence Service Examination (CDSE) that is followed by an SSB interview which is conducted by UPSC.

Engineering graduates can apply to the Additional Directorate General of Recruiting (TGC), New Delhi for getting direct SSB interview for Engineering Entry. The University Entry Scheme commences in the month of July annually and the applicant has to be in the final or pre-final year of an engineering degree course and need to qualify the campus interview and SSB interview. If you have passed 10+2 with aggregate marks and fall between 161/2 and 191/2 years of age you are ideal for 10+2 PCM (Technical) Entry.
