During the summer months, you can visit the European resort town of Marmaris, which is on the coastline of Turkey, and is known as a hub of sophisticated tourism. This town marks the beginning of the north eastern edge of the Mediterranean known as the famous "Turquoise Coast." Marmaris, which was built around a large bay at the base of mountains thick with trees, has a modern marina which acts as a base for sailing the Mediterranean, by catering to both private yachts and commercial cruise lines. Suleyman the Magnificient named Marmaris, according to local storytellers, when he exclaimed, "Mimari as!" after not liking the finished results of the stronghold he commissioned.when translated it indicates abruptly that the architect must be hanged.

If you love to shop then Maramis is the place for you. Fantastic deals can be found on items as diverse as jewellery, ceramics, leather and carpets with some of the best bargains coming at the Carsi Market located in the Ottoman Castle which features over 200 shops and a flea market open seven days a week, including a wonderfully lively Thursday market where locals come to ...
... sell fruits and vegetables along with fabrics and clothing. Preparation is critical if one wants to enjoy all Marmaris has to offer. Many vendors, especially the ones in the bazaars, are known to tout customers which, while illegal, can be a real irritant. Shoppers, on the other hand, are expected to haggle with them over price everywhere but in the larger stores. Already cheap items can be negotiated down an additional 30%. It should be made known to buyers, however, that there's a lot of so-called designer products sold in Marmaris are actually fake. great prices on expensive items should be a red flag that it is not a real item. Some imitations look good and are still well-made -- so don't be afraid to buy them while you're in Turkey.

Whether you're craving something international, or you're dying to try some of the local food at the Turkish Restaurant Lokanta, Marmaris has hundreds of different places for you to eat, no matter what your craving or your budget. A range of foods can be had here, ranging from tasty Chinese, filling German, or the always popular Italian. Don't forget to try samples along the way as well, Turkish delights, doner kebabs, and seafood meze dishes are all well worth your interest.

The wild and exotic evenings in Marmaris are mostly clustered around Bar Street, by the waterfront. Here you can find all the nightclubs and bars, overflowing with people until as late as 4am. Early morning partiers with the munchies are happy to find that most of the restaurants in the area are open 24 hours. Some of the best places to go are Davy Jones' Locker, with dancing all night long and affordable cocktails, Vagabundo, a club right on the beach where the staff dance up on the bar, as well as Cheers, right on the beach as well, with a drag act and places to sit outdoors away from the heat.
