They Are Called Stable Doors For A Reason

It is unfortunate that stable doors have never been as popular in this country as they have been abroad, particularly in the United States of America. Perhaps a reason for this is the much cooler climate in the United Kingdom, compared to the Deep South where it seems like stable doors are more widely accepted and occasionally even outnumber the more traditional varieties of door.
It seems more likely that stable doors have not taken off over here is the perception that they are somehow less secure than normal doors; after all, us Brits are naturally a particularly cautious nation, especially when you compare us to the famously friendly southern states. Perhaps this was the case when everyone had wooden doors, but thanks to recent innovations in mass production plastics, stable doors are every bit as secure as their solid counterparts.
It is easy to keep the catch on, so your door opens as normal, both top and bottom, and you will never know the difference. In fact, for passers by who do not know any better; and we are talking about potential intruders who may be scouting your house for a potential burglary target; ...
... a stable door will appear exactly the same as a regular composite, so if anyone does still have the perception that they are somehow an easier target, they will be none the wiser.
The high quality of UPVC plastic that goes into these constructions, as well as the generally skilled and efficient installers, means that they are just as durable and strong as doors that we might consider more normal. It is much more difficult to kick through a composite door than it is to damage a wooden equivalent enough to gain entry, and it is no more likely to get through a stable version than its regular composite counterpart.
On top of this, you can use the bottom to let pets such as cats and dogs out into the garden without showing off too much of your house to people who might be walking past at that moment…or use the top to let a bit of air into your home without inviting everyone in through your gaping doorway. All of this just adds to the fact that there is something enjoyably different about this more unusual style, which can add a great personal touch to any home without compromising the security of your family and your possessions.
Nowadays, customisable, colourful and practical stable doors are no less secure than any of the various other kinds of composite doors - as well as adding a nice, interesting touch to your home that a normal, boring plastic door just cannot provide.http://www.force8.co.uk/stable-compositedoors.php
