4 Tips In Logo Design
Every business needs a logo. It does not matter if you are a multi-national corporation or a sole proprietorship with no employees. A logo adds credibility to your operation and allows you to engage in more meaningful transactions. Plus, it helps you bring in customers, which is the bottom line.
If you are planning on designing your own logo, you will want to follow certain guidelines. Here are four tips to help you out:
Be Mindful of the Size
Sometimes, a company designs a logo, is happy with it, and adds it to their literature. Later, however, when they see their logo at the top of their postcard or brochure, it doesn't look right. This is because of the size difference. When you are designing your logo, make sure you change the size several times to make sure it looks good in large fonts and small. You don't want to be negatively surprised down the road.
This can help out in the long run, too. Color printing services are not cheap; designing a logo that looks good small could save you a few pennies.
Do Not Get Too Crazy
Many small businesses make the mistake of trying to put ...
... too much into their little logo. When it comes to logos, a little is usually more than enough. Try to keep it simple. Create a design that accentuates your one of two biggest assets, and leave it at that. Trying to include too many different shapes or techniques will just make it look cluttered and too busy.
Keep the Colors to a Minimum
Along the same lines, using too many colors can overwhelm your target customers, too. Two or three colors, at most, is plenty. Besides, as I said before, color printing is not cheap. The fewer colors you have in your logo, the less you will have to shell out to get your literature printed.
Keep the Colors Simple
Always use standard colors in your logo (and in all of your materials for that matter). Mixed ink colors can be very expensive when it comes time to get your color printing projects done. Besides, why do you need those fancy, exotic colors, anyway? Unless you are purposely trying to make your company look crazy and out there, you are better off sticking with the standard color palette.
As you have probably noticed, most of these tips tell you to keep your logo small and simple. This may sound strange to you, which is natural. Many small business owners think that they have to be big and bold when it comes to advertising techniques, but that is not the case. You will quickly find that keeping things relatively simple not only brings in customers, but makes things easier on you, too.
