The long awaited Nokia Lumia 900 has arrived. It is the best Windows Phone available in the market. It is the first joint collaboration between Microsoft and Nokia. It comes along with the latest version of the Windows Phone Mango OS. Nokia Lumia 900 is already being compared to Apple's iPhone and all other smart phones available in the market. Let's take a look at what this Windows Phone has to offer.

Design

Lumia 900 has got a matte finish with rounded edges and slightly curved back. The matte finish is something that is not seen among smart phones. It is available in cyan and black colors. The fascinating design is attractive enough to captivate the interest of a smart phone user.

Display

It has a height of 5 inches, and a width of 2.7inches. It has a display of 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack glass touchscreen with a one-piece polycarbonate body. It weighs around 5.6 ounces which makes it quite a heavy phone.

Lumia 900 features an 8 megapixel camera along with Carl Zeiss optics. The dual LED flash with an auto focus gives good picture clarity. It includes 1 megapixel front facing camera. The camera is quick to take snaps and it gives a good feel to the user. It is more suitable for outdoor photography under natural light than indoors. The only flaw with the camera is that it turns the picture yellow.

Applications and OS

Lumia 900 includes the latest version of Windows Phone OS, 7.5Mango. This device can perform all the software functions that a Windows Phone does. The OS handles Office files better than iPhone and Android devices. The Windows OS enables editing Office files in the phone itself.

Nokia offers Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, Nokia Contacts Transfer, and Nokia Transit. Surprisingly it does not include Nokia's music app. Microsoft Office apps are readily available on the Lumia 900. Windows Phone OS offers a wide range of apps but not as attractive as iPhone and Android devices. Microsoft has boosted developers to build apps for WP7 but it is still not sufficient.

Email and Social Networking can be easily done through the Windows Phone OS. It also includes Multimedia Messaging and threaded text that bring together messages sent by IM and traditional text.

Price

It costs around $100 with a contract period with AT&T; without contract it will be around $700 (Rs.35000 approx).

Other features

Other features include Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, Accelerometer, proximity sensor, e-compass, and a Stereo FM with RDS.

User Group

Lumia 900 looks bright for professionals who are already committed to Windows using MS Office, Outlook, Sharepoint and other products. For those using Android devices it may not seem to be a smart option to switch over to Nokia.
