It is usually quite common that when a person just gone through a break up, his/her friends will encourage him/her to just let go and move on to a better relationship.

Well, if that happens to you should not blame your friends or even resent them. Understand that they do so with good intention. Sometimes, it is really difficult for an outsider to understand how you feel after a break up. It is definitely very easy for them to tell you to just move on when they themselves may have never experience a break up before.

Remember, more haste less speed. Sometimes, trying something to fast can worsen the situation instead of making it better.

You may be very eager to get him/her back but you do not want to show this eagerness in front of your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Another reason why you don't want to do that is because you don't want to force him/her to take extreme actions. He/she might just decide to cut off all contacts with you. This is definitely what you want to avoid at all cost.

By taking things more gradually and consistently, you will stand a much better chance to win your ex back.
