The Relationship Between Stroke And Dental Health

It has been estimated that every 45 seconds of what America has a stroke, in one split second well over 30,000 brain cells will have died after this devastating shock to the brain, in a matter of a minute an ischemic stroke will have killed over 1.9 million brain cells, could you imagine the many facts, abilities, notions and body function you will have lost after such tragedy?
People who have been told to suffer from cardiovascular conditions often pay more attention to their diet, exercising and other activities in order to prevent a stroke but very few of those people will pay close attention to their oral health.
Oral health and strokes
One of the most obscure causes for stroke is bacteria found in a person's mouth, we say that it is obscure because not many people talk about it and certainly since not many are aware of it they are unable to link one thing with another.
According to dentists in the University of Minnesota bacteria has a direct impact in cardiovascular functions, bacteria found within a person's mouth can directly affect his or her heart. An experiment which involve rabbits took ...
... place in this university and the results were quite amazing, the bacteria which grows in the oral cavity of an animal (or a person for that matter) doesn't take years in order to start causing negative effects in the cardiovascular system, it only took 30 minutes for this normal bacteria to infiltrate the bloodstream and head towards the heart, within that timeframe the bacteria managed to start forming clots within the arteries.
As you may know artery clots are one of the triggers for ischemic strokes, when these clots get big enough they are able to block the supply of oxygen that a person's brain needs in order to function properly, when the brain doesn't get enough oxygen brain cells are known to die very fast in the consequences of the death of even a few brain cells can be extremely devastating.
It is of the utmost importance for patients who have been diagnosed to suffer from possible cardiovascular conditions to take good care of their oral health because in the end he would not only make them look socially pleasing but it will also have the potential of saving their lives.
