Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota -- the Vikings is a professional football team which goes back to 1961 when it played for the Western Conference until 1969 (the originally played under the AFC and moved on to the NFL), then for about 30 years (1970 to 2001) they were part of the national football conference Central division and recently (2002 to present) they have been part of the NFC North division.
