Types of certification –
The expanding healthcare industry means that lucrative health care opportunities will always be in vogue. There has been a lot of confusion among students on whether they should become certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant. Certifications are usually helpful as they help an individual in achieving a professional advantage. Candidates also have the varied choices of four organizations when it comes to being certified.
Certified medical assistant (CMA)- Those looking to become in to certified medical assistant (CMA) have to pass the test conducted by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Only an accredited training program will make an individual eligible for this certification. This certification process also requires renewal and recertification after every 60 months of time.
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – In order to become a registered medical assistant, an individual has to be registered with American Medical Technologist (AMT). Eligibility criteria include either having being trained in an accredited institute or having an experience of 5 years and more.
Along with AAMA and AMT there are two other certifying bodies that include National healthcare association and National Centre of Competency Training. The national health association offers two types of certifications. These include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA). The National centre of competency training has a rigorous procedure when it comes to certification. It is an independent organization providing certification and requires a minimum of 14 hours of continues education every year.
