Why Lose Privacy When Your Internet World Is Secure Enough?
Technology – A Boon for Mankind has indeed turned to be a Bane for his secure life. The world of Internet has started to steal the privacy of an individual. He tends to lose his identity with the advancement of technology. Yes, we could say today’s world of technology is bound with treachery. It’s our responsibility to safeguard ourselves. It is important that we enjoy every second of life provided by Internet with proper protection like PC Security, etc.
Internet is said to be a life tool to mankind. It makes everything possible just in a mouse click. Not only life is made simple for a luxurious life, life is also made easy for duplicity. Internet – the so-called Cyber Space is the new frontier of the world. It provides an individual every comfort right at his door step. Cyber Space, though comes of great use to humanity, it also has its own drawbacks. Cyber Space gives rise to the new criminal minds taking criminal offenses to a new level – Cyber Crime.
Cyber Crime – A conventional crime is nothing but an unlawful act committed using a computer as a tool or target. Sometimes the computer can be the ...
... tool and target of the crime too. It is easy to access any computer which is not secure and steal any data or information without any evidence. I am pretty conscious about secure browsing because once I faced with a huge loss that I can never forget. It’s my negligence to check for a safe browsing session that fetched me this loss. You can even say “Man in the Browser” was the reason too.
Busy Schedules and Late night conference for the week will be done. It is then that I visit my dad’s residence for the weekends. I, a resident of Lewiston, Maine, leap a simple life like many others. My parents live in Columbus, Ohio where they face severe thunderstorms many a times. Due to the bad weather last week, I happened to skip the visit and instead transferred money to my dad’s account. The advancement in Internet with the privilege of online banking helped me in transferring money from my home.
I never checked the connection for security since I trusted my provider. My last provider was really a spiffy company that promised for safe browsing. The package was stated to have all kinds of protection needed for my personal computer, yet I finally landed only in Trojan horse. If you are anything like me, you too would have the tendency to click on links that are attractive. I never considered any risks on visiting my favorite websites as I thought my computer to be a protected one.
This was the case even while I transferred money through online banking. My browsing session was not secure that I lost the money that I have transferred. It was then that I bade good-bye to my last provider. I started to source for information on secure browsing and found many interesting facts. It is damn easy to know whether the browsing session is secure or not. All we need to do is check out whether the link is http:// or https:// where https:// is an opt-in security feature. In simple words - The link with https:// shows that the session is secure and protected.
I ended my research in a simple format with just couple of points that are easy to remember like
•https certificate, or
•Apache – Web Server that supports SSL encryption. I first didn’t know what SSL meant to be. Later I found it to be Secure Sockets Layer.
•IP address. It needs to be a unique one. I was told like the certificate providers use this IP address to validate certificate.
•Finally SSL Certificate.
If any of these is available, I suppose that the session is safe and you can have secure transactions. After my research, whichever link I click I started to check for https:// as it not hard to check than to repent later for loss due to negligence.
Rita Dawson, being a freelance writer and active blogger, I love sharing my thoughts with the rest of the world and to source out some great security deals like the Pc Security. We could say today’s world of technology is bound with treachery. It’s our responsibility to safeguard ourselves. It is important that we enjoy every second of life provided by Internet with proper protection.
