In the post-modern world of business and enterprise, reliance on technology is as useful as it is unfavourable. The constant evolution of different forms of computers and data processors means that the existing devices are no longer as durable and as long lasting as they used to be. Businesses suffer when they lose their data in this way. A crash in a single system can result in a loss of millions of dollars. Companies, therefore, spend a lot of money on buying backup systems for their data centres. It has to be kept in mind, though, that reliable and economical data protection is also hard to find. Thus, finding a good quality and low-cost backup system is just what the company would need.

Sony is today’s leading company in backup industry, which developed the world-renowned advanced intelligent tape (AIT) system. This is a technology that used magnetic tape to store and record data, subsequently creating efficient backups. AIT uses the helical-scan system, features higher storage capacity and a fast throughput speed. Data in recorded onto the tape media through the efficient “helical scan” system. Sony has developed ...
... multiple generations of the AIT. A smart and durable choice for memory storage would be Sony’s SDX4-200C.

This cartridge is based on the AIT-4 media tape technology, and delivers a compact system for fast and reliable data protection. It stores nearly 200 GB of raw data. It also has the ability to store about 520 GB of compressed data. AIT technology is different from the competing tape system, because the compression ratio for AIT drives is 2:6:1. Moreover, the formulation of SDX4-200C tape cartridge is based on Advanced Metal Evaporated 2 (AME-II). This gives it a greater recording density and makes it more long lasting than its predecessors. The Sony AIT 4 drives also provide an ideal data transfer rate of 24 MB per second.

Other than their internal components, the Sony AIT4 system is also wary of serving as smart and intelligent backup system. The noise level is extremely low and the strength of output signals is not affected by the repeated duty cycles.Another advantageous feature which sets this AIT-4 system apart from the rival technologies is its fast data restoration. Data can be accessed within 44 seconds, and media loads within 14 seconds. This is achieved through the R-MIC chip, which makes it much more efficient. A fast processing data system is ideal for companies that constantly want to save time.

Moreover, Sony understands that moving through one backup technology from another can be troublesome. As backup storage demands keep on evolving, it seems as if the company would need several systems to protect their technology. This is why the AIT-4 drive makes it very easy to retrieve information from previous AIT tapes into the new one. It deliver backward compatibility, therefore the older AIT tape versions do not become obsolete. Recordings from the AIT-3 tape can be also be read and processed with the AIT-4 drive.
