Most of us have used internet over a period of time and we know for the fact that internet is used for various purposes. However, how many of us know that internet can be used for medical treatment as well. Most of us would agree with this fact as we search for various results using different search engines. Most of us would have tried searching for results with regard to a disease that we would like to know about. We have been successful in doing so to a large extent. The other day one my friends told me that he was suffering from a knee pain and swollen legs. That evening when I reached home, I browsed through my internet powered by FiOS Internet. With next five minutes I got all the results pertaining to this problem. I was able to understand all the causes and symptoms as and when I read it. The next day I was able to advise my friend about what needs to be. Within months time my friend was able to get rid of his knee pain and swollen leg with using any medicines. All I advised him was good and a few exercises.

The above illustration explained how we can diagnose a problem by ourselves at home. Likewise, we can diagnose ...
... many problems on our own. However, this does not mean that we don’t require a consultant to take advice, while we have an internet. Internet today, plays a major role in understanding a disease that someone in our family is suffering from. Most of the time this could build the confidence level with the family, and also the patient, especially when the disease is quite critical. The examples mentioned above could be relating to an individual. However, have you heard about the medical treatment that has undertaken in Tanzania? It is believed that hospitals in rural Tanzania have designed methods to communicate with doctors in referral hospitals using internet. One of the projects in Africa has discovered uses the telemedicine network. This concept is being developed. Apart from all these computers and internet, are used to deliver e-learning to doctors in remote areas. Hence we can say that internet connectivity have helped doctors and nurses to have free access to free online resources including journals, research databases and training courses as well.

As mentioned earlier apart from chatting over net, watching movies and downloading music videos, we are aware that people search for information. We have seen people reading online jokes as well to remove stress. However, through a survey conducted among the topics that were researched by people, it has found that fifty six percent of the people who search for information over the internet have looked for information regarding medical treatment. Some of these people included caregivers, those with college degrees, users of internet with chronic conditions and parents who have their children with them, most of these people have searched for topics regarding medical treatments. Hence it is also believed that this is the second most popular topic that has been researched over the internet. All these people looked for information for treatments for few common topics. Some of the most popular searched topics are pain relievers, anti-depressants, high blood pressure medication, diabetic’s medications, antibiotics and cholesterol lowering medication. Looking at the topics that were researched we understand that most people in the world suffer from these diseases. At times it becomes quite hard for people to consultant a doctor every time they face such problems. Also, we are aware that medication is quite expensive in recent times. Hence, it is quite easy if they know about the problem that they are facing and take steps to control the same on their own.

Stuart is a freelance writer who has written articles on various topics. He spends time researching on various topics using his internet powered by FiOS Internet. He wants to share some of his information with regard to searching information for medical treatments.
