Working parents face a heavy burden due to growing financial pressures and weakening job security which contributes to their worries. Balancing their work pressure and family responsibilities is a big challenge for individuals. The burden of recession which has led to job cuts, pay freezes and reduced earnings affected many people across the globe which has led to people now relying on two incomes in the house. There are many businesses that offer flexible working hours and onsite childcare facilities.
It may sound a little challenging but it is possible to combine a successful career along with the upbringing of the child. The downturn caused due to recession is preventing some companies to implement these flexible work timings. Despite this, many parents can request for a flexible work timing schedule. However, this right is restricted for the employees who have worked with the current employer for more than 6 months or has a child less than 17 years. There are different models or flexible working that can be adopted, like, working in shifts, work from home or even job sharing.
Another important aspect that has come from flexible working hours is the concept of Co-working offices. This is a style of work where in a group of people share the same working environment, which sometimes even can be offices but yet they perform their own individual activities. Those people who are co working are usually not employed by the same organisation and this scenario is typically famous among those who are individual contractors, work-at-home professionals and also those who work according to their own flexible work timings. It is like a social gathering of a group of people, working independently but sharing values and who are interested in the concept of joint work which can happen by working with a set of talented people in the same space. Some of these offices were developed by some leading entrepreneurs who were looking for an alternative to working in coffee shops or cafes. These have proved to be a huge success among the group of individuals who work as free lancers and work-from-home professionals.
