Learn About The Chief Causes Of Hair Loss In Women
You usually witness hair fall while you are giving your hair a quick brush, when you are taking a morning shower, or when you are blowing it dry. It is quite natural to lose 50-100 strands of hair on a daily basis. Hair fall occurs because every hair has a particular span of life. After its lifespan comes to an end, it is replaced by a new hair. However if you experience excessive hair loss, you should treat it as an indication of a serious medical condition, which needs immediate evaluation by a hair expert.
The nine main causes of hair loss in women are:
Telogen Effluvium
Hereditary hair loss
Hypothyroidism
Lupus
Deficiency of iron
Polycystic ovarian syndrome
Unhealthy scalp
Alopecia Areata
Excessive styling
Telogen Effluvium – this phenomenon usually occurs after your pregnancy, or after you have undergone a major surgery. Telogen Effluvium can also occur if you have lost weight drastically, or if you suffer from extreme stress and anxiety. Individuals suffering from Telogen effluvium will lose hair at an abnormal rate, when ...
... shampooing, brushing, or styling their hair. Side effects of medications like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines, drugs like beta blockers, and antidepressants may also cause hair loss. Your normal hair cycle involves three phases, they are: growing phase, resting phase, and telogen phase. If you are a woman with telogen effluvium, your hair unlike a normal hair, will quickly shift from the first phase to the second, before they make an entry into the telogen phase.
Lupus – when you suffer from lupus, the healthy tissues of your body are attacked by your own immune system. This chronic autoimmune disease causes fatigue, oral ulcers, headaches, and swollen joints. You may also develop butterfly-shaped rash on the upper section of your nose. This in turn can be accompanied by fever, chest pain, swelling in hands, feet, and areas around your eyes. This disease also causes unusual hair loss. You may experience your hairs sprouting out in patches during the combing session. In this case abnormal hair loss is generally accompanied by rashes on your scalp.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome – if you suffer from this abnormality, which in turn is caused by hormonal imbalance, your ovary will produce excessive male hormones. You can suffer from this abnormal condition even at an early age of eleven years. PCOS causes irregular periods, facial hair growth, acne, and also contributes to the formation of cyst on your ovary. PCOS is often the main reason behind your infertility. If you suffer from PCOS you are sure to experience excessive hair loss.
