Pearls are synonymous with innocence, purity, commitment, love, faith, charity and integrity. There is a reason. These attributes typically reflect the personality of a lady. Pearls are lustrous round beauties which exhibit a rainbow of mesmerizing hues and tones. Since ancient times, it has attracted women from all strata of life. Queens, empresses, and celebrities have all fallen for this scintillating gem.

Pearls are extracted from oysters. These sea gems are naturally produced in salt water or mechanically processed inside the oyster in freshwater bodies like ponds, rivers and lakes. Of the four varieties of pearls, Akoya and Tahitian sea gems are more often than not used to make a pearl necklace.

An orphic gem necklace is categorized according to its length.

A multi-tier design contains multiple strands of pearls in varying lengths.

Collar necklace is typically worn high on the neck and its length is around 12 to 13 inches. There is not much difference ...

A princess necklace is the first of the many designs which is long, around 17-19 inches long and extremely versatile. It can be worn on gowns, a trendy top and even on casual clothes. A matinee necklace is for the corporate women. It is generally designed in excess of 20 inches, but not more than 24 inches in length.

Opera on the other hand is a necklace with a length of 30 inches and more; typically worn on occasions such as high profile parties, gala or premieres. This necklace reaches just below the bust line, making a woman look much taller than she is.

Finally, a rope necklace is an extremely popular pearl accessory. This necklace is designed in excess of 36 inches with several clasps which can be broken down to wear individual pieces separately or simply wrapped around the neck for a unique look.

Pearl necklaces make a woman glow with radiance, making her look younger, prettier and complete.
