Why Choose Airsoft Shotguns
While it is easy to dismiss airsoft guns as being merely the toys of children who have been overly influenced by the glorification of guns in television programs and action movies, the reality is that there is a large and thriving community of people for whom airsoft guns are a hobby about which they are very passionate. Many people compare airsoft guns with paintball guns, and while there are certainly some similarities in the way the guns are operated and used, there are also some major differences. The main distinguishing feature of airsoft guns is the realism that they provide, being modeled and built to be as much like real guns as possible. And realism is also where airsoft shotguns excel, because even the way in which they are handled evokes the image of using a real shotgun.
There are many reasons why people choose to purchase an airsoft gun. For some, they are simply collectors’ items, and are to be displayed proudly in a cabinet or mounted on the wall. For others, they are simply toys that are great for an afternoon with the kids in the backyard knocking over cans and putting holes in targets. And for yet ...
... others, they are essential tools for participating in realistic wargames that involve all the aspects of a conventional battle besides injury and death – planning, strategy, skill, stealth, cunning and courage. And it is this last group of people who will probably be most interested in airsoft shotguns.
Many people have made a hobby out of organizing ultra-realistic wargames where players join teams and stalk each other in a field or patch of forest, using airsoft guns to simulate real weapons as closely as possible. Although airsoft guns will not injure a person who is adequately protected, they certainly hurt enough to sting, and that is just the price that you have to pay for allowing the “enemy” to “wound” or “kill” you.
Just as in a real battle, soldiers on a team will carry an assortment of weapons to ensure the greatest effectiveness in a variety of combat situations. For example, pistols are great for close quarter engagements, sniper rifles excellent for covering a forward assault team, and shotguns for maximum firepower at close range.
Of course, real shotguns are particularly effective at close range because they do not fire a single bullet, but instead release a cloud of “shot” with each shell expended that makes it easier to hit the enemy. An airsoft shotgun, however, will shoot only a single BB, much like an airsoft rifle or airsoft pistol. The difference, however, lies in the short reload time required.
When using airsoft shotguns, your hand is always on the pump, which is also the part of the gun that you use to reload after having fired a shot. A pistol or rifle, on the other hand, requires that you move your hand to the slide or a charging handle in order to get the gun ready to fire the next shot. This is what makes the shotgun attractive among those who use airsoft guns for such simulated engagements.
Airsoft Shotguns are among the most fun Airsoft Guns to have in your collection, and there is no better place to go looking for airsoft guns than Airsoftrc.com!
