No doubt, bad breath is an embarrassing problem. It may be caused due to a lot of problems ranging from poor oral hygiene to stomach ulcer to bacterial infection in the mouth. Though some don’t seem to be daunted by the problem, there are a lot of people who find it very difficult to deal with. They are forced to go for various steps to get rid or at least their problem. And the sad thing is that, people are more dependent on artificial products rather than the natural ones. After some careful examination by some of the leading dentists in the world, it has been concluded that the artificial products are only suited for short term relief and not for the long term.

Though there are so many artificial products available in the market, the one that is more commonly used is mouth wash. What I’m going to say now may be a bit shocking for people who are using mouth wash. Over the years, clinical studies have indicated that mouth wash contain a high chemical content and over use of these products carries the risk of causing mouth cancer in the patients. Now you might wonder how come they cause cancer; especially when your ...
... own doctor has recommended you to use mouth wash for your problem. What’s the real story behind it? Are mouth washes really potential cancer-causing agents? The following content is developed, after an extensive on the websites using my Internet connection powered by Comcast Internet, mainly to throw more light on this topic.

First of all, be sure to check the label of the mouth wash. If ethanol is the main ingredient, then it confirms the presence of alcohol in the solution. Note that the presence of alcohol in the mouth wash is not completely safe for your mouth as it contains cancer-causing agents. With respect to this subject an interesting piece of information was published in Australian Dental Journal a couple of years back. The news content in the magazine stated that, these days a majority of the mouth washes on an average contain 26% of alcohol in them. You will be surprised if I say this alcohol content in the mouth washes is much more than the ones we find in a can of beer! And, studies have shown that an alcohol content of more than 20% can cause oral damage on prolonged usage. The high alcohol content in the mouth washes cause a burning sensation in the mouth the moment it is used.

Moreover, they damage the lining of the teeth and gradually weaken them. Note that our teeth are prone to carcinogens and can get damaged easily. This results in tooth decay. This is even worse for the smokers. For smokers who use mouth wash regularly that is about two to three times a day, the high alcohol content in them absorbs the nicotine in the cigars. This sticks to the walls of the mouth and worsens the problem. Studies have shown that smokers who use mouth wash regularly have about 9 times more risk of getting mouth cancer than those who don’t smoke but use only mouth wash. Likewise, people who drink alcohol are also at a greater risk of getting oral cancer. Now you would have understood the reason why people who smoke or drink get mouth cancer than people who don’t. And, the risk of getting oral cancer is same even in case of people who chew tobacco frequently.

If you could recollect from what happened last year, a world famous company that leads in the production of medical and consumer products was sued by Oral Cancer Prevention Inc. for a reason that got to do with the distribution of oral cancer detection kits. In conclusion, the over use of mouth wash can have the risk of causing tooth decay or cancer.
