I Am So Happy That I Implemented Ehr In My Medical Practice, Since It Saves Huge Amounts Of Time And
I recently started using EHR technology in my clinic, and I cannot believe how much better our office has been running ever since we made the change. I am a pediatrician and a while back I opened up a small practice, and have considered myself very fortunate to watch my practice grow and thrive. The clinic has the best location close to a large community, and I have found that we get a nice flow of loyal customers. I enjoy my niche and have gained a lot of respect in the short time that I have worked in this area.
As I was originally getting the practice set up, I installed the most up to date software, and learned how to use it so I would be able to teach my staff how to use it too. I was content with the way things were going, but then I went and visited an old buddy from medical school who has a small practice of his own. He was explaining to me about how he runs his clinic, and about how they have been using Electronic Health Records software to keep track of patients, their medical history and even handle the billing.
He showed me a few of the other features of the software, like how he can pull up ...
... patient's records on his Ipad and take care of billing issues immediately. I thought this technology was fantastic and decided that I needed to have this EHR for my own practice as soon as possible. At first my assistants were not very enthusiastic about having to learn a different system, but once they got started they completely loved it and said they couldn't imagine how they had ever gotten along without it.
Well, within a few weeks, we were making things work much more efficiently and the billing issues that used to take us ages to deal with were done much, much faster. Another nice benefit was that we could give our patients access to their medical information much more rapidly, and we were able to add more new patients with all the time we were saving.
One feature that my friend had not told me about was the EHR Meaningful Use laws that got us a reimbursement as we proved that our use of the software and technology was meaningful. This was a wonderful bonus and really helped us out a lot. Now that we have gotten accustomed to this new system, I can't believe that we were ever able to get along before it. Now any time I see other physicians, I am always eager to tell them all about it!
