Working 12 hours, 6 days a week and sleeping in on Sundays. Is this your lifestyle? Pity to be you. No, bet the pay is good and the dinner parties worth it. But on a serious note, don’t you ever get a break? There is another side to this world, outside your cubicle, and it’s wild and splendid. I’m not talking about your nightly clubbing activities. I’m talking about the more natural part of this earth, away from deadlines and rush hour traffics; where you can relax your mind and body.
Sitting in front of the computer typing away furiously, or drawing pages and pages of schematics all year long is not healthy, you know. You do? Then why don’t you take a holiday? It’s not too late to show your unfairly used muscles some justice. And I know just the right activity for that.
Go snorkeling! Wait, don’t shy away. It’s not even close to THE SCUBA diving. SCUBA diving involves expensive wet suits fitted with heavy equipments for breathing and other things. Besides, you have to be a very experienced swimmer and should have sufficient training. With snorkeling, you don’t have to go through all that trouble ...
... to explore the oceans.
Now, the top ten snorkeling sites for novices and pros alike:
The Baths, British Virgin Islands: This place has got a versatile terrain. You not only find aquamarine waters and white bays, but also giant rock formations scattered around the beach. Amongst the grottos, you’ll find an abundance of coral and marine life.
Culebra, Puerto Rico: Culebra was listed as the top most place ideal for snorkeling in the Forbes magazine. It has cliffs and mangrove forests extending into the, sandy coral beaches. What’s the difference? It’s awesomely affordable.
Zlatni Rat, Croatia: Dubbed as the Golden horn for its unique shape, Zlatni Rat offers plenty of water activities like kite boarding, wind surfing and of course plentiful of snorkeling. And nudity is legal here!
Big island, Hawaii: If you’re a turtle lover, then you’ll fall in love with this island. Snorkel in its crystal clear waters to spot exotic green sea turtles and a taste of Hawaiian bays.
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands: You can’t expect some private time here. These islands are extremely popular holiday destinations, busy all throughout the year- because it encompasses all the features of the island that I mentioned above.
Bunaken National marine park, Indonesia: Another Forbes mention, this destination is for serious snorkelers. Not because of the waters, but because of what it has to offer-unbelievable diversity. There are about 2,500 species of fish, over 250 varieties of corals and dozens of invertebrates.
Crystal River, Florida: Closer to home and has all that a tropical island in Hawaii has to offer. It’s a two hour drive away from Tampon and has unexplored nature trails for a little twist in your snorkel trip.
Harbor Island, the Bahamas: Beaches with white sands aren’t uncommon. Beaches packed with clean pink sand, rare. Harbor Island has a very casual and laid back ambience, with spectacular sunsets and beaches freckled with pink corals that attribute to the pinkness of the sand.
Pigeon Cay, Honduras: Completely isolated. Be prepared to fend for yourself here. This island is, known to be sparsely populated. Teeming with marine life and noted for the elkhorn corals.
Havlock Islands, India – Voted by TIME magazine as two best beaches in the world, Havlock is known for its numerous diving spots, coral reefs and underwater rock formation.
All the ten places, with the exception of Zlatni have protected waters and are amateur proof. Not only a good way to relieve the stress, you also get to explore the different cultures of the world. What harm is a little more of knowledge? Get out and start exploring. But if you can’t, buy a cable connection at great prices through Time Warner Cable Specials
