Working in a stressful environment can make us complete our task within less time. While some stress can help you function in a better way, too much can affect your physical and mental health. Like the old saying, “Prevention is better than cure”, we have to find ways to control stress. Many organizations are giving classes to employees on methods to be followed for controlling stress.

In this article we will discuss about different ways through which we can manage stress.

Start counting to 10 - When you are in a highly stressful situation, then start counting up to 10. This will help you to mentally step away from the stressful moment. The number counting can take away your stress at least for some hours. Make this tool as a remote control. When you are in stress, switch on the ‘start’ button of your remote control. Once you have done the counting and still have the stress feeling, then press the ‘start’ button again. The repeated action can take away the stress feeling and you will be in a better shape to handle the task in a more effective way.

It will not only give a positive energy, but also the courage to face problems in a bold way. Yoga and meditation are simple techniques to keep our mind calm. By following the breathing and body relaxing exercises, we can frame our mind in such a way that we can get through a stressful day with a positive mental attitude. If you are a professional, some simple ways to reduce stress are changing position, talking a long walk, talking to friends and practicing some quick yoga exercises. While meditation can increase your concentration, yoga helps to alleviate tension and anxiety. Aerobic exercises can also keep our body and mind strong. By practicing aerobic exercises, endorphin is produced in the body. Endorphins are neurotransmitters and its high level in the body makes us feel pain and fewer negative effects of stress. When our body is healthy, mind will be also healthy. So, we will get the courage to face difficult situations in a bold way. Instead of stress, we will develop a fresh and challenging approach towards complex situations.

No one can live without experiencing some degree of stress. According to Hans Selye, father of modern stress research,” Stress is not even necessarily bad for you; it is also the spice of life, for any emotion, any activity causes stress. But, of course, your system must be prepared for it.” We can prepare our mind and body to face and control stress by practicing meditation, yoga, and other mind quieting techniques.
