The best way to buy bathroom vanities is to first measure the area where you wish to place the bathroom vanity. In most cases, the vanity will be used to cover up the pipes that lead to the sink. In addition to covering up the pipes, they also provide a countertop for some items as well as a space underneath for storage of bathroom items. Some of them have drawers as well. It is usually desirable to make sure that the vanity has enough storage for the room so that everything does not have to go on top of the item and be in plain view. Most people will place all sorts of objects under the item in a cabinet or in drawers so that they are not visible. This makes for easier cleaning in the bathroom and also makes the room look less cluttered.

Space is of the utmost concern when choosing bathroom vanities. Most people want to have a large enough bathroom vanity that will not take up too much space while at the same time having something that will be large enough that it can contain all of the items that they wish to store. Those who have families or live in a home where there are several people will naturally want to ...
... have more space as there are more items to store. The size of the room should determine the size of the vanity. If you are unsure about size, take a look at some magazines and model homes and see how large the vanities are in those bathrooms. This can give you a good idea as to what to do with your own bathroom.

If you are completely remodeling the bathroom you are going to want to get a new vanity. The only thing that you have to consider is the sink pipes, which will be covered by this unit. Other than that, you can usually make it larger or smaller than what you currently have, although most people will go with a product that is similar in size. The cut out top for the vanity must be so that it will house the sink unit. In most cases, the top of the vanity is completely open and the top must then be mounted to this unit. The top will be made of Formica or even a one piece marble sink. There are many options from which to choose when it comes to the top of this unit. The vanity is simply the cabinet that goes under the sink and houses the incidentals in the bathroom while doing double duty of covering up the pipes.

Years ago, people just had standing sinks that were on metal legs and the pipes were clearly visible under the sink. They had a medicine cabinet above where they kept their personal items but in those days, people did not have as many personal items for the bath as they do today. Today, with so many different grooming items, there is a need for more space. And because we wish to cover up the pipes and not let them be exposed, we tend to use vanities as a way not only to store items, but also as a way to cover up the pipes that are part of the plumbing for the sink.
