Rodents are most common species that are found in many places. While many people in the world find it very hard to control these rodents, on the other hand rodents are kept as pets. It is said that forty percent of the rodent species are considered rodents. Some of the rodents that we find in our day to day life are rats, mice, rabbits, squirrels, porcupines, pigs, beavers and hamsters. Hence like the human beings rodents are also warm blooded animals. They have a huge teeth, which are used for chewing, gnawing. Since they have a very strong tooth, they can chew on anything that gets to them. This could be one of the reasons why most people don’t like rodents; their contribution to the damages caused at home is significantly large. Due to this reason people also kill some of the rodents like the mice and rats that enter into our homes. For doing all these, there are kinds of pesticides available to kill these.

Rodents are considered rapid breeders and some of these species breed all through the year. However, there are certain mice, which fall short in life spans. These could be due to various factors like predation, ...
... population, that are maintained through constant reproductions. One of the advantages that a rodent has compared to any other animals is its soft cartilage. Rodents are capable of squeezing themselves and can make their size smaller than the usual. This feature allows them to get inside any kind of hole, does not matter how small the hole is. Most of us would have experienced these facts. When we are faced with such kind of situations at home, it is always good to stuff all these kinds of holes with steel wool and sealed with spackle or cement, so that these rodents do not get a chance to enter or re-enter our homes at any point of time. The rodents that cause these kinds of damages to the maximum are rats and mice.

As the population of rodents are huge, not much of considerations are given to a life of a rodent. In fact some of the small rodents are used in the laboratories for testing purposes. The tendency of performing some of these experiments on these rodents in our laboratories today is being commonly referred to as guinea pigs. However, rodents are useful to humans mainly for the testing purposes. Otherwise, rodents are generally considered troublesome as they depend on human dwellings for their shelter and substance. Not only this, there are considered intelligent as they can understand some of the simple concepts very quickly. Due to these facts they are considered dangerous, causing damage to infested structures and they also transmit a variety of diseases to humans. Some of the small rodents are gophers, moles, rats and mice. These are proved to be pests especially in the agricultural communities and residents.

While we have all these problems it is not advisable to handle wild rodents. Since they have large teeth which are infectious, they are capable of transmitting varieties of bacteria, viruses and diseases through their saliva, feces and urine. It is always advisable to contact a pest control specialist for getting rid of this rodent. It is always good to identify a rodent within our homes is a sign of infestation. Apart from these there are also large rodents like the capybara. These weigh up to 140 pound as adults and are more than 55 inches in length. Most of these animals are semi aquatic animals and most reside in the temperate and tropical zones. Their lives are spent primarily in the water, where they mate and hide from predators such as anacondas and jaguars. Capybaras sleep underwater, as well, leaving their noses exposed to the air.
