Linen is a bast fiber, that is, the inner walls of the stem of the plant is used for extracting the fibers. Scientists are also working on a new kind of fiber- a combination of flax fibers and cotton for the improved variety of denims so that they become lighter and more comfortable for the wearers in the hotter countries. Linen is a strong fabric as well. Even after repeated washes, linen does not tear easily. It is well resistant to heat as well.
