All of us living in this world have some kind of interests or the other. How can a person be idle during his free time? We have quotes from people saying ‘idle mind is devils workshop’. This means that when a person is idle, with doing any work for a long time, he starts to do something crazy. This could be one of the reasons why we see people who sit at home without doing anything, indulge themselves in lot of unnecessary activities. To be away from all these, it is really important for a person to create some kind of useful work for himself.

There are various activities that a person can undertake when he is busy. For this we can always learn from others. Apart from these we have our own interests, in other words we can call it hobbies. Hobbies can be profession for some, however, for most people engage themselves with their hobbies during their leisure. There are different kinds of hobbies that people can take up. Mentioning different kinds of hobbies, I am reminded to speak to about collecting as a hobby. Collecting is one of the hobbies that many people adopt as they are children. People can collect whatever they want and this entirely depends on the tastes and interests of the people. Collecting can start from coins, stamps, music, movies, books, information. The list can go on and on. So lets look at different aspects of collecting and see how it helps.

The first kind of collecting can be coin collections. This can also include currency note collections. The concept is very interesting because, there are different kinds of currencies that vary from country to country. Not only does it vary from country to country, it could differ with the countries itself. With the development of the economy, the currency notes or coins also change over a period of time. For example, some of the notes that were used during the medieval period cannot be found any more. People who have collected these currencies have kept the same as a treasure. Hence when it comes to showing that they have something which others don’t have, make them feel proud and increases the confidence level in them.

Any collection for that matter could bring you the same kind of collection. We find lots of people collecting stamps. There are thousands of varieties of stamps that can be collected. Each stamp has its own value, significance and purpose behind it. One of my friends has a huge variety of stamps. I couldn’t count when he showed me his collections. He has neatly named each of these and stored it in file. Some of them were really ancient. When I enquired about them, he could explain me the significance and meaning of most of the stamps. This really brought me astonishment. I just wondered and made me realize that collecting stamps could involve you so much.

Similarly is the case with movies, music. Today, with the advancement of the technology it is easy to have movies and music collection with improved services like ATT Digital TV. However, if we look back some time earlier, say a decade ago, people who had a craze for collecting movies and stuff, used to really run around collecting all these. Hence, Collecting is always strength, and improves our confidence to carry with our daily activities, helps us keep our mind strong and healthy
