Tourist Guide To Alicante City – Spain

Alicante is a very popular tourist destination in Spain on account of many reasons. This beautiful and neat city has plenty of attractions for visitors and tourists including some fine, sandy beaches and the people of this city are known to be very welcoming and hospitable. Alicante city is located on the sea-coast along the hills and the climate of the city remains very pleasant throughout the year. Some of the landmarks in the city of Alicante worth visiting are:

Explanada de Espana

This is a beautiful roadway lined by plenty of palm trees and it travels all along the side of the harbor. The boulevard is decorated with a mosaic laid out in wave formation.

Alicante Port

Alicante port is worth visiting as it is adjoined by Monte Benacantil which is a high mountain with a length of one hundred and sixty nine meters. An ancient fortress called the Castillo de Santa Barbara is located on the top of this mountain. Santa Maria Church

The Santa Maria Church is the oldest in the city of Alicante and it was constructed between the 14th and 16th centuries, in the famous Gothic design on the ruins of a Muslim mosque.

San Nicolas Church

San Nicolas church was built between the 15th and 17th centuries in the Renaissance design. This church was also constructed over the remains of a Moorish mosque.

Archaeological Museum

This museum contains a great display of work starting from the Stone Age to present times. The Dama de Cabezo is a famous statue in this museum and it is considered to be among the most important findings of the Iberian times in villa spanien.

Palacio Gravina

This wonderful palace was constructed during the 18th century and it contains an interesting Museum of Arts. This museum has plenty of domestic sculptures and paintings by local artists belonging to 16th and 18th centuries. There are plenty of other landmarks as well in Alicante which are worth visiting.
