Banks have now become the most important organization for people across the world. They are the part and parcel of our day-to-day life. The new generation banks are equipped with new facilities that provide a lot of useful services besides just lending and saving of money. These developments in financial division along with the advancement in latest technology have revolutionized the banking sector with its service across time and geographical boundaries.

These improvements have made bank to bank transfer easier, whether national or international have become increasingly popular among the common men due to the unrivalled safety and secured transaction offered by such transfers. The greatest advantage is that these transfers can be done within a few hours generally. It is carried out only if the sender has enough funds in the account and when it reaches the receiving end’s bank, it will be cleared right away and can be easily accessed. Swift code or BIC code has an important role to play as International Bank Transfers are not possible without it. Now, you might be wondering what these codes are. Well, Swift code stands for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication also known as ISO 9362 or SWIFT BIC or even BIC code of SWIFT Id. This is the standard format of Bank Identifier Code which is to be provided at the time of interbank transfers and other interbank communication. The code is approved by the International Standard Organization; an alpha-numeric code which exclusively represents a bank.

So, how does it work? First of all, the sender has to come up to the bank he wants to send the money from. The receiver‘s account number and the Swift code of the bank where the receiver has the account also should be provided for carrying out the transaction. The bank at the sending end, then, sends a message to the receiving end’s bank, requesting the payment as per the given instructions.

Generally, the entire procedure takes only a few hours for the completing the transfer and the funds to reach their destination account. But, sometimes due to technical snag or other problems, it might take a couple of days. And, the banks in service for the transaction collect payment for the service done by them. Thus, the amount received by the recipient will be lesser than what the sender had originally sent.

Swift Codes or BIC Codes are unique identification codes for all the Banks in the world. SWIFT or BIC codes are widely used to transfer messages mainly between banks.
