If you are a proud owner of a set of quality Goodyear tires, you need to know that they won't endure forever and that you will need to know when to replace them. Though most tires will generally survive somewhere between 20,000 and 60,000 miles, even the best will eventually have to be replaced and it is crucial that car owners know when to do so.

Firstly, despite your best efforts a tire may need to be replaced well ahead of schedule. Extended driving, drastic weather changes, and constantly riding over rough speed bumps on your way to school or work may reduce the tire's lifespan. The initial clue that your tire might need to be rotated or even replaced is usually a bumpy ride. Anytime you begin to experience a shake or shimmy as you drive or you start to notice that your fuel cost is increasing, you may want to check your tires to ensure that they are not the cause of change.

One thing that you must monitor closely is the thickness of the tread on your tires. After your tire tread has worn away to the point that there is only about 2/32s of an inch left, it is time for a replacement. There are tread ...
... gauges available at your local auto parts store, but many people just use an upside down penny, which is inserted one of the grooves between treads. If you can view all of President Lincoln's head when you put it into the slot, then it is time to buy yourself a new tire.

Finally, be sure to visually evaluate your vehicle's tires on a regular basis and before any long journey. Use a tire pressure gauge to make sure they are properly inflated and look closely for any bad punctures or abrasions. If you find that your tires are underinflated or have been damaged in some way, it is best to have them inspected by a professional, as it may be time to replace them.

When it finally comes time to switch out your Goodyear tires, you will do well to replace the whole set at the same time. Not everyone has the money to do this, which is okay, but it is still greatly recommended that you at least change out the tire that shares an axle with the one that is no longer any good. Simply replacing one tire can bring about poor performance and faster wear of the remaining tires.
If you want to know about tires and wheels, then you can check Goodyear Tires and you may also want to see Falken Tires. Warm thanks to John Z. Barbosa for offering his time in the article completion.
