Windows Mobile Development Shift Focus Back To Corporate
Although Microsoft leads in terms of computer software, its late entry in the mobile industry will perhaps never let it achieve the desired position, that of Apple. Imagine you own Windows; would you ever try to follow Apple to gain similar prosperity? The wise answer would be, No. Today Apple has mastered the technique of developing sleek interfaces and user-friendly functionalities for smart phone users. By the time you reach even close to Apple, it would have moved to the next level. Does this mean that Windows phone has no scope of winning consumers?
Windows need exclusivity. We all know what it is best at, creating corporate apps. That’s where we see a scope for Windows’ success. Today many people in important occupations prefer smart phones as it allows them to perform business operations on the go. However, incorporating core business applications in smart phone requires a high level of security that only Windows can offer. Windows has a high potential to help every individual employee be effective at his job. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Windows next code-named “Apollo”.
Windows Phone ...
... 7 failed to attract the desired attention from Windows Mobile Application developers. However, the upcoming Windows Phone 8 foretells a contradictory future. Subtitled as “enterprise-focused” phone, Windows plan deep integration of the desktop, tablet and Phone operating systems allowing intensive cross-platform mobile application development service. This surely has Windows Mobile Application developer’s ears keen to hear more.
Windows phone 8 overlaps several key components in the kernel including networking stack, security and multimedia. This will allow developers to widely reuse their code. In pursuit of the consumer market, Windows mobile development had abandoned several business-friendly features in its previous version. However, its platform could not create a large impact except its consumer-first interface. This time, Microsoft is ready to bring back its enterprise-centric features to the Apollo version. Some of the features are native BitLocker encryption, Secure Boot Capability, ActiveSync, System center configuration to allow businesses to distributing internal business apps behind the firewall and many more. Moreover, there is a slew of new technology features flowing in gradually including the NFC technology, tap-to-share capabilities and revamped Skype.
Apparently, Apollo version will release only after the Window’s Tango. However, it is worth waiting for the phone if all the leaked details remain accurate. If Microsoft application development services could implement interoperable apps that would work on the PC, tablet and smart phone, it would attract a large market taking a long stride towards the center of the IT world.
