Why Is It More Convenient To Use Mini Light Bars?
There are several reasons why mini light bars are used instead of the full length light bars in cop cars and emergency vehicles. Mini bars are those which are usually around 16 to 20 inches in length. While this may be a sizeable length, they are much smaller compared to the full-fledged light bars which measure anywhere between 36 to 60 inches or sometimes, even more. However, mini bars prove to be useful in more ways than one. Their biggest advantage is the fact that they are extremely inexpensive compared to the bigger light bars. While the full length models could cost in excess of $1000, the mini bars could more or less be purchased for less than $500. In fact, there are bars that can be purchased for less than $200 as well.
If you have a tight budget, mini light bars are definitely the ideal choice. However, there are plenty of other considerations as well. For example, smaller patrol cars will benefit from mini bars as the larger ones are too heavy for the thinner roofs. The compact mini bars can be mounted with ease using universal brackets, swivel brackets, L brackets or adjustable bail brackets. The mini bars ...
... offer good performance and hence you wouldn’t be compromising in any way as far as emergency lighting is concerned. Mini bars usually have 3 to 4 LED modules, with each module carrying about 4 LEDs. The Gen III LEDs are high performance, ultra bright LEDs which are known for their luminosity and low energy consumption.
The mini light bars give you the best of both worlds. They are small in size and hence portable. You can mount them temporarily on any emergency vehicle with the help of magnets, which come in sets of 4 with a combined pull of over 60 lbs. Most mini bars are lighter than 15 lbs, which makes them easier to carry around or mount securely on top of the emergency vehicle. At the same time, the mini bars are capable of sending across a very powerful warning signal, which is the most impressive part about them. They have up to a dozen built in flash patterns with self-contained electronics, without the need of an external flasher. These flash patterns are made more effective and the warning light more visible when the LEDs are in multiple colours. Some mini bar even have split segments with LEDs in pairs of colours like red and blue or blue and amber.
Mini light bars are hardly around 2 or 3 inches in height and about 6 inches in width and their low profile design makes them ideal for patrol cars. They don’t offer any drag resistance to speeding vehicles thus improving the fuel efficiency. The mini bars make use of the same chassis frames as the longer ones, with aluminium being the most popular choice. This gives the frame structural rigidity and stability. The bars are also vibration and weather proof, which is necessary for external mounting during emergency situations.
