The appearance of the outer body is important to each of us. While some of us have the will power and no how to perform many remedies for ourselves, some conditions require something more. There are many conditions that individuals suffer from- hair in unwanted places, acne, thread veins, sun spots and freckles, rosacea, and other conditions that affect the outer beauty of the individual. Medications for conditions can become costly, and result in negative outcomes over time, and the reason that many that suffer from skin conditions that affect the face and body are turning to aesthetics. Aesthetics include Botox®, dermal fillers, lip augmentation, chemical peels, dermaroller, cryotherapy, laser hair removal and the Obagi System.
Botox® is likely one of the most publicized aesthetic treatments currently and what we will touch lightly on.
Botox® is used for wrinkles. Botox® is a non-surgical treatment and one that adults of all ages engage in. It works by blocking the transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibers, which results in a weakness of the nearby muscles. Individuals often seek Botox® ...
... treatment for wrinkles around the eyes, between the eyebrows and on the forehead. The treatment has proved to be safe and effective and on that simply involves the injection of Botox®.
Several tiny injections of Botox® will be administered into the muscles of the face. The process takes about 15 minutes and does not require a local anesthetic. Typically, there is little discomfort. After the initial injections patients can expect to see visible results after about three days and within about two weeks, full effects will result. The results last for an average of three to four months. However, as the patient continues with Botox® injections, the results will last longer and longer.
There are side effects that may result due to Botox® treatment, which include swelling at the site of the injections and possibly a small amount of redness. Typically the side effects will disappear within a few hours from the time of the treatment. The procedure is considered safe and is a simple treatment.
Botox® treatments are not for everyone, however, and it is important that you speak with your physician prior to having the treatment performed. If you happen to have an infection where you plan on having the Botox® injections, you should not have the treatment. If you happen to be allergic to any of the ingredients in the Botox® medication, you should not have the treatment. If you think you might be pregnant or are pregnant, you should not have the Botox® treatment. And, if you have a neurological disorder such as Myasthenia Gravis, Motor Neurone Disease or Multiple Sclerosis, you should not have the Botox® treatment. Also, there are certain medications that can interact with Botox® treatments and it is crucial that you are aware of these medications, which are certain chemotherapy medications and Warfarin. If you are taking any type of medications, it is important to let your doctor know the medications that you are on, prior to the Botox® treatments.
