Every thing has a certain lifetime after which they can't be further used. Just like any other asset whether it's a plant, machinery; cars even have a lifetime after which they can't be used anymore and need to be junked. When choosing a car, it's always better that you purchase a car that it mildly used maybe a couple of years old and drive it till they are in a mess and cannot be used anymore. The perceptual experience behind choosing a used car is that it's cheaper and tends to offer a better deal for buyers than purchasing a brand new car.
Whether you buy a brand new car and use it for three or four years and then get rid of it's the same as using a car that is three years old and then using it for a few years before getting rid of it.
