Many professional singers turn out to be a voice mentor in the later stage of their careers. Though the job of a vocal mentor is quite tough as you should have a lot of endurance to deal with your students, but when all is said and done, it is a very profitable and rewarding job. The responsibility of a voice mentor is to give singing vocal lessons to the pupils.
Singing voice lessons can be given to students of any age, your students can be teenagers, small children or adults. Vocal coaches either teach their students at their place or at their own place. Singing vocal lessons can be given in easy steps so if you want to be an excellent vocal coach follow these simple steps to train your student:
In the first lesson take a voice test of your student. Hold a pitch pipe, puff the middle note C and then sing an easy scale. Ask your pupil to imitate this. If he/she gives a good performance ask him/her to sing the major scales like D, E, F and let him or her continue till you get the higher limits of his or her range. ...
... Now reverse the method and go down the scale until you achieve the lower limits of his or her range.
In the second lesson educate your pupil about the proper technique of warm up. After this session, ask your student to sing his or her preferred song and identify the flaws like whether his/her pitch is smooth or not, he/she is grumbling consonants and whether he/she has proper control of breath etc. Jot down all the important points in a diary so that you can give them suggestions to improve.
In the third lesson teach breathing methods to your student. In lesson four, ask your pupil to perform scales using the ideal pitch.
In fifth lesson teach your student about consonants. Train your pupils to sing the consonants clearly otherwise whatever song they will sing their audience will be unable to fathom the words of the song.
In the final lesson 6, assist your pupil to select his preferred song which should be in his/her vocal range. Thus by giving the apt singing voice lessons you can change an average singer into an extraordinary singer.
