It is very essential to get proper fire sprinklers installed in various places for the safety of people as well as for the safety of the surroundings. Fire sprinklers have many small parts which together make the thing and work towards the functioning of the sprinkler. One of the very important parts of a fire sprinkler is the fire pump, which plays a very essential role in the overall working of the sprinkler. The good part about this is that it can be powered by any of the three- electricity, steam or diesel. An electric motor, a diesel engine or a steam turbine may be used for this purpose.

The main task that the fire pump performs when the fire sprinkler starts functioning is to provide the water flow at a very high force and at great pressure. This happens when the pressure in the sprinkler falls below a particular point, thus arousing the pump to do its work. This dropping of the pressure takes place when the sprinkler releases water under very high heat and temperature. Fire pumps are particularly very ...
... effective in the case of tall and high-rise buildings or when a large amount of water flow is required (as is the case in warehouses which are made for storage purposes.)

Another type of displacement pump is referred to as peristaltic pump. Peristaltic pumps are also known as roller pumps. This pump is also used for the purpose of pumping liquids of various kinds. These fluids which are used in peristaltic pumps are sterile and aggressive and must not be contaminated in the process of pumping. There are flexible tubes which are used in these pumps and the rate of flow of the liquid is directly proportional to the rpm of the motor used in the pump. Rotating rollers are used in these flexible tubes to produce and create the pressure (on the liquid flow.)

Further, there are no valves, seals or glands in peristaltic pumps, and therefore, the contact of the liquid takes place only at the bore of the flexible tubes. Besides, such pumps are very simple to use and it is very easy to understand their functioning. They are very user friendly and more than anything else, they require very little maintenance and this saves a lot of time and money. A pump head, drive and the tubes are the three main parts of peristaltic pumps.
