Lots of people enjoy going online for a myriad of different reasons. For example most of us enjoy having an internet connection at home so we can do some online shopping, focus on updating our social media accounts and answer emails. We are often used to using computers and the internet at work too, but this depends on what line of work we happen to be in.

But for the purposes of this article let’s think about having an internet connection at home. Many people have a connection brought in to a specific room so they can connect their desktop computer to it. In this situation you wouldn’t necessarily need wireless broadband because you aren’t going to pick up your desktop computer and move it around! However if you have a laptop you’re going to benefit from getting wireless broadband services. It will mean you can use your laptop in virtually every room in your home, because you will pick up the signal in a wireless capacity.

But what about using your laptop outside the home? Suppose you want to go to the park on a nice day and use your laptop there? Does this mean you cannot use the internet?

It does ...
... if you haven’t thought ahead and signed up for a service to provide it for you. In this situation you can get a BT broadband dongle to plug into your laptop. When inserted into a USB port and activated, it will provide you with the internet connection you need. What’s more, a BT broadband dongle is superbly small and very convenient to keep in your pocket or in your laptop bag.

Of course there are other ways to pick up an internet signal should you need one. If you are with BT you can look into the possibilities offered by BT Fon. This is free internet offered to BT customers and it is available from a wealth of hotspots around the UK. If you are close to one you can simply log on and use it without being charged to do so. BT Fon is still somewhat new compared to other services but there is no doubt that it is gaining in popularity as more and more people find out about it.

As you can see if you have a reason to get online while you are anywhere but at home or work, there is more than one way you can do it. If you need this kind of internet access you should make a point of finding out as much as you can about the services offered. This is the best way to ensure you have the best access to broadband internet you can possibly get, while paying as little as possible for it.
