Ruby On Rails V/s Php – Which Is Better.?
Compared to PHP, Ruby on Rails [RoR] is too new and young programming language. But both of them have a series of dedicated followers who are passionate about them.
There are some of the core features and differences that can be considered at the time of comparing PHP and RoR. But in genuine comparing them is little unfair as basically PHP is simply a programming language while RoR is a framework developed by Ruby programming language.
PHP
PHP is enormously useful and very flexible language. Compared to any other language, PHP uses very little memory and also it is quite a matured language having a wide variety of extensions and library modules. Initially, PHP was developed as a scripting language to be used in HTML pages but today it includes full object oriented features.
Compared to RoR, PHP as a language doesn't include all the features because of which programmers requires thorough knowledge and skills to code an application or website from the start. Majority of developers face problems in certain things as database connectivity must be coded from the scratch or they also face performance ...
... problems. But PHP is very easy to learn language; therefore, many experienced and expert PHP programmers can be found easily for customized requirements.
RoR
Ruby is completely an object oriented programming language that is suitable for many platforms and purposes. Compared to PHP, Ruby requires more memory and also it runs slower. On the other hand, Rails is a framework providing number of features that are helpful for rapid web application development. Along with some great features, Rails also includes routing system to make URLs to methods and a template system to generate a HTML output. Due to numerous features, most of the times developers loses control from the SQL queries as the features and services that are not required in a particular application runs in default. But these numerous features on a positive note makes easy for RoR developers to build web applications.
The level of complexity increases equally on both PHP and RoR, when an application to be developed requires load balancing. In the beginning, RoR required more work to deploy but now with new enterprise deployment system it is as easy to deploy as with PHP. Selecting a better one from both of them is impossible, as developing an application on any platform totally depends on the requirements. If Ruby on Rails has some really great features than PHP is more flexible.
