Do you remember when you were younger looking with admiration at all sort of animals? There is something fascinating about animals. We all love them (well, most of us), but kids seem to be especially in love with fuzzy, little faces. Maybe they love them so much because a lot of them are as small as they are, and also because animals are so amusingly different. I really can't explain it, but I do know that the fascination is true.

For the longest time my daughter's favorite books have been ones that have featured animals and stories about them. All my daughter wants to read for a long time were animal books, and they are still the ones she prefers.

The first animal books that she looked at were simple picture books. She didn't care about having a story, she just wanted to look at images of various animals and see what they can do or where they live. Though her most favorite animal books were the ones about animals that she could see every day, I have found that she is now more interested in the ones that we don't see.

She would like to go to Australia and look at a real koala bear. Sometimes, she pretends ...
... she is a baby koala, and when you ask her what her favorite animal is she might say a baby kangaroo, which she will tell you is called a Joey.

She started enjoying animal books that come with a story as she got older. Maybe it is less difficult for her to use her imagination with animals as opposed to persons. I'm really not sure.

This might be why stories like Donald Duck are so popular from one generation to the other. The way to learn about human interaction because they show animals in a very human way.

No matter how old your children might be, they will probably love any animal books you give them. Of course, as they get older, they need more than story books, but people of all ages always loved animals. I don't see any harm in buying animal books that have an educational value.

The more they read and know about animals the more they are going to learn about their world, and in the future, they will be more respectful toward animal and people. Wich is a really good thing for the young generation to learn. I could say that the older generation could gain as well from this type of respectful thinking about all living creatures.
