Once you've consolidated your debts, it's crucial to make some changes to your spending habits to become debt free. Otherwise, you'll end up growing your debt again. There are many different ways to save money in various areas of your life that will help you have some extra money every month. By developing smarter spending habits you can pay down your debt faster and begin to put some money away in savings for unexpected emergencies and for your future. Here are a few tips for managing your money:
Devise and execute a spending plan.
Collect and write notes on your cash purchase receipts. This will help you track spending and raise your awareness of your spending habits.
Maintain a written account of all income and expenses, especially cash.
Begin saving one dollar per day and all your pocket change.
Review spending practices and habits; evaluate what needs to be changed.
Begin comparison shopping. You can save more than 50% at times.
Wait for sales. Retail mark-ups are incredible. Don't pay full price.
Avoid impulse purchases. You don't really need most of the stuff ...
... anyway.
Use coupons whenever possible and send in for rebates.
Start doing things for yourself and do not pay for services you can perform.
Some of the changes can be difficult to implement in your daily life, but once you do you will find that they can only help you in the long run in gaining your financial freedom. Changing the way you think about spending your money and making the right choices can lead to a more harmonious household and help eliminate stress in your life.
