Easy How-to Guide On Wedding Invitations

Ideally, you should begin ordering the invitations as soon as you can decide on the guest list, and have chosen a date. This will have to be one of the first things to take care of, but only after you have been able to book a venue and caterers for the wedding. Be sure to mail them at least 4 - 6 weeks before the wedding, especially if the wedding is going to be during the summer or during the holiday season, when schedules are busier.
Your invitation card set will come with the actual invite that has the date of the wedding, location, and time printed out on it. Out of station guests will need a map card. This is to help them find their way to the location. Pew cards are for those close members of your family who will sit inside the ribbons at the ceremony. Remember to insert map cards and pew cards inside the main envelope before you mail the invites.
Children above the age of 18 should receive their own invitation cards. If your guests have small children whom you'd rather not have at the wedding, they have to be told beforehand. Include a Sorry, no children allowed line in the invite.
Before you go ahead ...
... and order your invitation cards ask yourself a few questions. You obviously have a set range that you're willing to spend on your invites. If you're on a budget, it doesn't make sense to have expensive invites. Most of your invites will end up in the trash after the wedding, which can make it an utter waste of money. If your wedding has a color theme, your invite should reflect that. If there is another theme running through the wedding, that will have to echo too. For instance, for a fall wedding, you could have a dried maple leaf affixed to each card.
Don't go wild with font styles and colors on your card. Too many differing fonts make your text difficult to read. Simple and classic is best when it comes to lettering and fonts. Don't stuff the invite with loads of text, it looks messy and your guests will again have difficulty keeping track of the important information, like the location of the wedding.
Personalize your invites with a quote from your favorite book or a love quotation that describes your relationship. Go easy on the length of the quote, however.
