GIS or Geographic information system is a system that gives comprehensive information about different locations. It is a widely used technology that runs with the assistance of computer software. The GIS system generally analyses and maintains information and store the data related to geographical locations. GIS help in Digitization of maps, which help in digital presentation of map. The person who uses GIS system can make, edit, customize, and modify essential changes that take place time to time on different geographical locations. Due to the presence of GIS in telecom has made easy for users to locate their locations simply using mobile phones. GIS is a technology that is widely used by government and different armed forces, many big organizations also bring it in use for different purposes. The GIS system that is mainly used by most of the organization and different department operate on the same principle except armed forces use different data obtained from GIS.

Earlier GIS system used to be expensive, however due to invention of map hosting and GIS hosting technologies by various telecom service providers, these applications have become easy to implement. Due to development and availability of open source applications, it is now easy and economical for everyone to run GIS system. In last few years, GIS system has seen significant growth.
GIS is such an effective system that helps users to create geographical maps even sitting in a cyber café. The best example for a GIS is Google maps, which is operated and used worldwide and everyone is aware of this system. This Electrical Network Mapping system is helpful for both locating location and educational research. GIS helps in taking effective measures and decisions at the time of crisis in any town or city. There are several uses of GIS system that are very help for human society.
