Another welcomed material of bathrobes is silk that also looks more elegant than cotton. This fabric is mainly composed of glossy fabric fibroin that is made by the secretion of an insect's larva. The insects used for the production of this fabric are silkworms which are able to create elastic, fibrous, and very strong threads. The bathrobe made of this material is more expensive because of the painstaking process needed for the production of silk. However, it’s necessary to mention that this bathrobe isn’t suitable for people living in wet climates as it can hardly absorb water. Silk bathrobes are better for wearing before going to bed or while spending some free time in the bedroom.

Finally, woolen bathrobes are usually worn by people in colder climates.

Apart from materials, bathrobes are classified by the shape of weaving, including the flannel, velour, terry, and waffle. A flannel is a soft and very flexible fabric that mainly consists of wool or cotton and is produced from slackly spun yarn.

Terry is considered to be a pile material having uncut spheres on the sides. This fabric is usually woven from yarn and is used for producing towels and bathrobes. Velour is another fabric with cut spheres. Bathrobes made of Velour have mainly a terry inside that makes the bathrobes cozier, luxurious and softer.

There’re thick but at the same time luxurious bathrobes. These are produced from absorbent and soft terrycloth. The thinnest bathrobes are made of silk.
