Carmona is a beautiful town that is small yet picturesque. There is a tower that is a replica of the Seville’s Giralda and is built in the 15th century. Carmona has a rich historical culture and is quite similar to Seville. This small town is a hill that overlooks a plain that is fertile and magnificent. Both Seville and Carmona are very closely located and attract tourists from across the globe. History narrates that the town is listed as one of the major roman cities and was ruled by the Seville ruler. But a palace was constructed by Pedro the Cruel inside the big castle, which became his luxurious residence.

The old portion of the city begins with a gateway known as the Puerto de Seville. Though the gateway is elegantly built, now it’s almost in ruins. The Mudejar churches and Renaissance mansions all form the part of this old city and they could be accessed through narrow roads that are after the gateway. Every path leads to some wonderful churches and mansions that bring back the history. When you go further down you will witness spectacular sites of the Moorish buildings on the Plaza San Fernando. Though the ...
... place is small, the buildings will leave you amazed. You will also get all the seasonal fruits and vegetables at the nearby market here.

Gothic church at the Santa Maria is magnificently built on the mosque and has a tall Mudejar tower on its top. Pedro’s palace, which is now in ruins, is found on the borders of the Carmona town. This was once an elegant palace but most of the building got destroyed during the 1504 earthquake. The town of Carmona ends at the Roman Puerto de Córdoba and from there fertile plains of the Cordoba begin.

Another sightseeing spot that is worth visiting is the roman Necropolis. This is just on the opposite side of the Carmona town and you could see nearly 900 family tombs that are dated back to the 2nd century and 4th century AD. These tombs are a spectacular feature and enclose a number of urns which are kept safely. The tombs are so large that you will be amazed by its construction and design. Certain tomb is also interconnected and thus has many facilities. Benches that will be useful for funeral banquets are also part of the tombs. In short, Carmona is a great historic place to visit and a must see location catalogne.
