It is a web-based development, which enables SharePoint consulting team to work collectively. One can create their own sites where they can share documents and information. They can use such data for decision-making and SharePoint development is useful for all kinds of users. It is a very simple and easy to use tool developed by Microsoft. With SharePoint development one can work on several projects. All operations are broken down into workflows for easy understanding and improved decision making.

The share point server of Microsoft has pre defined workflows. These SharePoint consulting workflows are normally active. However it might not be active when a particular business has opted for a customized setting. In that case the workflow needs to be activated. To do that it has to be activated like a site collection feature. In order to activate or deactivate a workflow as a site collection feature one has to be the administrator.

Activate A Workflow As A Site Collection Feature

Go to the home page, there will be a Site Actions menu. Once you click then you can access the site settings. Click that and press ...
... on modify all the site settings. Then go to the Site Collection Administration and then click on the Site Collection features. This will contain a list of the SharePoint consulting workflows. Beside each workflow there will be an activate button. Press the activate button for the workflow that you want to activate. This is just to activate the workflow, however if one has to get the approval or the feedback then the Activate button, which is next to the Routing workflows should be clicked.

De-Activate A Workflow As A Site Collection Feature

All the information in the site can be accessed by anyone using the site so in case you do not want anyone to access particular information or a workflow then you need to deactivate it. If a workflow is deactivated then no one can access it. The deactivated content cannot be used by users later to add to any library or list or content. However to deactivate a workflow as a site collection feature one has to be a site collection administrator. First go to the home page; choose the site actions from the menu. That will go to the Site settings, in that click modify all site settings. Then go to the Site Collection Administration and press the Site Collection Features. The site collection will contain a list of workflows.

Beside each workflow there will be a button called deactivate. Click on the button to deactivate the SharePoint consulting workflow. But then if one has to deactivate the approval and feedback workflow one has to click the deactivate button that is near the Routing workflow. After this click deactivate the feature to completely deactivate it. But one thing that needs to be kept in mind is that while deactivating a workflow any data, which is associated with that SharePoint development workflow, might get deleted. Also any associated workflows which are in progress in the site might cease to function.
