I Want To Make Money, But - Common Roadblocks And How To Break Through
In the last few months or years, how often have you thought “I want to make money online,” but never got around to figuring it all out?
As someone who is just starting out, there are probably a few things holding you back that I can relate to. For example, I’d be willing to bet you’ve been overwhelmed by the endless supply of information that’s available to you...
Or, perhaps, just didn’t know where to begin...
Sound like where you’re at? If so, I’ve decided to do my own research and share some ideas that can boost your confidence and take you from “I want to make money” to “I’m making money!”.
If you’re at the “advanced” level, this will be more of a refresher than anything.
“I Want To Make Money Online, But I Don’t Have Any Good Ideas”
Wrong!
Ideas are all around you, if you keep your mind open and attentive.
Make it a point to be a great listener and you’re likely to hear about common problems you are familiar enough with to solve.
For example, if you’re a musician and always hear other musicians complaining ...
... about common problems such as tendonitis and you found your own routine to prevent it...
...you could write a short report or even shoot a few videos covering each warmup.
Suddenly, you have your own product that you can either give away or sell to others.
You can also cruise along the magazine rack at your favorite store and look at all the different topics that are covered.
(Book stores usually have the biggest selection of magazines...)
This could give you ideas for new markets to learn about, or give you a source of inspiration for your current market.
Just the covers of a magazine alone are gold for ideas. You’ll often see certain topics appear on the covers several times.
If that happens, you can guarantee that research has shown that to be a major problem or interest for that market!
“I Want To Make Money Online, But I Hate To Write”
Well, look at that...you’re in luck again!
If you’ve got a telephone or microphone and a willing friend, you could have them interview you with a set of pre-written questions.
Even better, you could do the research to find out what people in your market want to know about and then find an expert to interview.
There’s no short supply of people that love to talk about themselves. Plus, you can position your project as a way for them to get extra publicity.
Check out this website for a nice size directory of people that have PAID for others to find and interview them:

“I Want To Make Money Online, But I’m Not Good With Technology!”
Ok, you got me there...
There are plenty of people that don’t know how to code HTML, but these days it’s not the only solution.
If you learn how to setup a wordpress blog, once you get the hang of it, you can be up and running in a relatively short amount of time.
On the other hand, you could also spend a few bucks to have someone set it up for you. However, the more you want your blog customized, the more you should expect to invest in a proper designer.
There are two ways to get your own wordpress blog:
1. Get a free blog at http://www.wordpress.org
2. Host your own blog by uploading Wordpress to your hosting account
If you’re planning to brand yourself online, it’s a smart idea to take the plunge and register your domain and hosting account. The reason for this, is because the free blogs at wordpress.org include their domain as part of yours...
Here are a few sites I’ve found to outsource these things and more:
http://www.fiverr.com - For really simple tasks (and plenty of funny offers), you can look for people on Fiverr. Everything on the site (the “gigs”) is $5.
http://www.vworker.com - Formerly known as getacoder, you can get all kinds of technical and administrative tasks done there.
“I Want To Make Money Online, But I Can’t Stay Focused!”
Say no more...
Before I share the resources, there’s one way you can shortcut the amount of time it takes to get up to speed:
Find yourself a mentor...
At first, most people assume this means you’ve got to seek out some guru in your market and hand over fistfuls of cash to earn their attention. However, there are plenty of people you can partner up with for free.
For example, you could join a local (or online) mastermind group, full of people that have been where you are and have similar goals of their own.
Networking in general is always considered one of the best ways to rapidly grow your business.
As a last resort, or first depending on your preference, you could simply find someone that’s already accomplished what you’re trying to do and learn by their example from afar.
Of course, you don’t want to go hiding in their bushes or peeking in their windows. Rather, takes notes on what they do to market their business and make an effort to emulate it.
About those resources...
Here is one site I’ve heard of that runs in the background and keeps tabs on how much you use each program or website like Google or...ahem...Facebook.
They also let you go into “focus mode” (appropriate, no?) and completely block sites that are considered “unproductive”...for however long you wish!

“I Want To Make Money Online, But My Conversion Rates Are Horrible!”
I’ve found there are a ton of ways this problem can be addressed...
From what I’ve discovered so far, the biggest thing you can do to improve your marketing is track and test each campaign.
Test different variables, such as your headlines, video, layout, etc. and you’ll often be able to find improvements that work.
Also:
Similar to the idea above of finding a mentor and doing as they do, why not take a look at their sales funnel?
Sometimes, that might require a purchase or two to go through the process. However, if it’s a product you’re genuinely interested in, you’re getting the product itself AND a killer lesson in marketing from someone you respect!
That’s about all for now...
Are there any problems that have you saying “I want to make money, but...” that I may not have touched on?
