Drukgyel Dzong, the Victorious Fortress, was built in the year of 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to celebrate his victory over the Tibetan invaders. It is one of the most important historical places to see in Paro. It also offers the commanding views of mountains on clear days.
Taktsang Monastery
Literally the Taktsang Monastery means the Tiger’s Nest. It is one of the most religious sites for the Bhutanese people. It is the place where Guru Rimponche medicated over thousands years ago. Thus it is one of the most famous pilgrimage places for Bhutanese or Buddhist followers. Every Bhutanese tries to visit this place at least once in a lifetime.
