Over the passing of the last couple of decades, it has become apparent that we live in an era when computers, robots and technology dictate the course of everything that is taking place around us. Computers and the digitalization of each and every single task which had to be performed manually first appeared in regards to military organizations and operations, but they quickly expanded to universities, governmental institutions and other administrative entities, only to reach ordinary citizens at the beginning of the new millennium, thus contributing to the installment of a new, fresh air, that would announce the overall change and improvement of life as everyone knew it.

However, with the apparition of computers, the internet and their entire collection of benefits, especially the possibility to store files and all kinds of information on a digital support has begun to seem more and more attractive to hundreds of thousands of people all around the world, especially seeing how the same ideas, data, info and knowledge stored on traditional paper made matters to difficult to collect, express and organize. Still, ensuring ...
... the digital support was not a guarantee for the safety of all kinds of files, regardless of whether they are work related projects or presentations to personal photographs and music stored on the personal computer HDD. This is because at any time computers can be hacked, attacked by viruses, bots or the well known Trojans or can suffer hardware or software errors that can cause the loss of all data, which will be even more painful if you had been saving it for years on the same HDD.

Modern technology has evolved so as to permit the recovery of said data from some of the damaged storage units, but the matter of fact is that this operation will only work under certain conditions, particularly time related ones. Moreover, it is an incredibly expensive operation that can be performed only by professionals most of the time. Evidently, being attentive and precautious is a lot more recommendable and safe, but this is a practice which not many of us are used to. What is more, external HDDs are rather expensive, while storing data only on CDs or DVDs is time-consuming and unproductive. Therefore, another method had to be invented. This is how backup software became so popular and sought after.

Disk imaging is a method which basically duplicates the HDD that contains the information you are interested in. A new and different storage medium is created and it is capable of emulating virtually all tasks you were previously accustomed to and some new ones too. The backup software will be used to create a backup copy of the hard drive, which will be entirely similar to the real one, so as no file or folder will be missing when you need it most. The disk imaging technique is far more cost effective than investing in complicated hardware pieces which are likely to fail at some point too. You should always make sure you have a copy of every data crucial for your personal or professional activity and the best way to take care of this aspect is to make use of reliable backup software.
