Australian rugby league coach Wayne Bennett says that a man's treatment of money is the most desirable test of his character. How we make money and how we spend it says a great deal about who we are. Money is not the problem in life. It's what we do with it. Money is a good thing. Over the past few years a lot of money has come through my hands and I have chosen to not be a pool, but a stream through which money can flow to others.
When people say there is too much money in sport, I have to laugh. Money is not the problem in sport. Money does not corrupt athletes. Great men and women of character will always be great men and women of character. If someone already has a seed of corruption in his or her heart, whether they are athletes, ministers or business people, then money will often be used in the wrong way. Money magnifies what you are already, no more and no less. A generous man will be generous with a little and generous with a lot. A tight person will be tight with a little and tight with a lot.

Give strategically. Give where you know there will be reward and give where you will get a sense of fulfilment. There is nothing wrong or corrupt about money. Always remember money magnifies what you are. Today, think about where you can make more money, where you can budget better, where you can be a little bit more generous. My golden rule in life is this: If you are generous to others, they will always be generous to you.
Challenge
Decide where you will give next - in the short-term and in the long-term. Then determine how much you will give, as well as what you will give: money, time, resources, skills... And decide all this by imagining what will give you the most satisfaction. The satisfaction of giving generously is a joy only a few ever experience... become one of those few!
