Me as a human-being can’t think any of any other day that is significant as my birthday. The way people view their birthdays it is entirely subjective. No matter how it’s viewed, it perfectly reflects on how we as living beings recognize our own mortality. Whether you welcome it or dread it, your birthday is on its way and there’s no way to avoid it. However, if you take a breather and read some quotes that were spoken from some of the greatest minds in history, your outlook of birthdays will change dramatically.

Yes, there are indeed some quotes out there that involve birthdays and they all actually have some historical impact to them. One example that comes to my mind is from Abraham Lincoln. To me, President Lincoln is saying that there is no guarantee that you will live to an old age. I believe it’s a reminder that we all have an invisible clock ticking above our heads that is scheduled to stop at any time. There’s no need to have those minutes go to waste.

Even if you do make it to your golden years, you will realize that getting old isn’t so bad. Being able to have all this knowledge on how the world works is beneficial beyond any young age. In our teens, we suddenly start looking forward to getting clothes (which was shunned upon during our childhood years) and a simple shaving kit. Maturity is a virtue that shouldn’t be ignored. Even though it comes later in life, it’s a treasure that our younger minds wouldn’t understand. With age, comes accomplishment, a sense of being a survivor, astuteness, and sharpened skills. There are many ways to look at birthdays. The way I see it, it’s just another year that I accomplished without having to succumb all the negativities life has. Death is coming for all of us, sure. Of course, I always see it as just another doorway another, heightened realm of existence. In a morbid way, maybe I’m curious on what’s behind that door.
