Badrinath: Perched in the northern region of India, in the state of Uttarakhand, Badrinath dwells in the centre of Garhwal hills, on the banks of River Alaknanada. A hallowed town Badrinath has been mentioned in Hindu sacred scriptures and legends and is a sanctified pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites (followers of Lord Vishnu). The temple of Badrinath is the chief temple of the town and is referred to a legend which says that Lord Shankara originated a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan here in the Alaknanda River.

Kedarnath: Dwelling of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath is placed at a height of 3584 meters. Imperial Kedarnath range is the back drop and Mandakini River in the close by, Kedarnath is amongst the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord shiva. This picturesque monument has to be reached by a trek of 14 km from Gaurikund. The temple of Kedarnath has chronicle of Mahabharata epoch.

Gangotri: The origination of the river Bhagirathi is in Gangotri. It is positioned at the height of 3042 meters. The chief divinity here is goddess Ganga. According to mythology goddess Ganga apparent she in the form of a river to emitted the immorality of King Sagar's son.

Yamunotri: At the height of 3165 Yamunotri is the beginning of sanctified river Yamuna. It is placed at the opposite direction of Gangotri. There is a hot water pool in the Yamunotri which is used to prepare the prasad. The chief immortal here is Goddess Yamuna.

The pilgrim's journey is considered much sanctified by Hindus and all devout Hindus wish to execute this pilgrimage once in a lifetime. Formerly they wash away their sins in these pious monuments in front of their divinities they are more probable to accomplish Nirvana. Therefore an ataractic Char Dham Yatra is one for a lifetime.
