Orlando is a city in the central region of the U.S. state of Florida. It is the county seat of Orange County, and the center of the Greater Orlando metropolitan area. Orlando is nicknamed "The City Beautiful" and its symbol is the fountain at Lake Eola. The current mayor is Buddy Dyer. The city is best known for the Walt Disney World Resort (located approximately 21 miles (34 km) southwest of Downtown Orlando in Lake Buena Vista), founded by the Walt Disney Company in 1971, and for the Universal Orlando Resort (which consists of two parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, as well as other attractions, including City Walk). Once a quiet farming town, Orlando now welcomes more visitors than any other place in the state. The reason, of course, is Walt Disney World, which, along with Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, and a host of other attractions, of varying degrees of quality, attracts millions of people a year to a previously featureless plot of scrubland.

Why is SeaWorld better? Simple, most families traveling to Orlando have smaller children, usually between the ages of 3 and 6 years old, and this theme park is more compact and smaller than Disney World. This is important since the average person at Disney World walks on average of more than 10 miles per day and all this walking can wear the little ones out. Secondly, Sea World is mostly comprised of shows so you almost never have to wait in long lines. This is a blessing especially if you have ever tried to keep a three year old in line for 45 minutes to ride one theme park ride. Thirdly, Orlando is hot especially in the summer, and Sea World has a cool feel to it. This is partly due to the fact that SeaWorld has so many lakes and partly due to the cool misting stations they have spread out across the theme park. Finally, Sea World Orlando has one of the best children's play area which is located directly behind Shamu's Stadium. In this play area Sea World has a few tame theme park rides which is safe for children three years old and up to ride. They have a great splash park and a huge playground and play set which stands over 40 feet tall.
Adults also love SeaWorld, since Anheuser Busch Corporation used to be the primary owners, there are plenty of adult activities to do. One of the neatest things to do is to see the Budweiser Clydesdale horses as well as the famous Budweiser Donkey. You can also go through a beer masters course to see how they make Budweiser beer, and almost anywhere in the park you can find a place selling cold beer.
SeaWorld was recently sold by Inbev Corporation to the Blackstone Group, and we are still uncertain about what changes the new owners plan to make. Since Blackstone Group is also part owner of Universal Studios Orlando, we expect a few changes but nothing major.
