Many herbs are known for both their fragrance and natural healing properties. In today's busy world, a great way to take advantage of a herbs properties is through aromatherapy herbal candles. Essential oils and herbs have been shown to boost energy, reduce stress and change moods.

Aromatherapy has been used in various places around the world for over 5000 years. Today's schedules mean that many people don't take the time to relax and unwind, which is an unfortunate, and potentially hazardous situation. By combining various herbs' fragrances with a natural wax, aromatherapy herbal candles are created, and can be used to promote relaxation and combat stress.

For those constantly on the go, aromatherapy herbal candles can be bought online and delivered to your door. However, if you have the time, consider making your own aromatherapy herbal candles. That way, you can personally tailor the scent to your particular needs.

The most basic aromatherapy herbal candles can be made by simply pouring a few drops of pure essential oil onto a candle wick. Make sure the candle is one made of ...
... natural wax though (bee, palm or soy), as candles made from paraffin actually emit toxic soot and smoke.

For something a little more difficult, try to make aromatherapy herbal candles from bees wax. Bees wax can be bought in sheets. Simply drop some of your favorite essential oils onto the wax, then roll the wax sheet tightly around a wick before sealing the sheet by applying pressure with your fingers.

The most effective aromatherapy herbal candles require a little more effort. If using molds (most cardboard works well) thread a wick through the base, then seal with putty. Use a double boiler to melt your soy or palm wax over a low to medium heat. Once the wax has melted, add your essential oil or oils to the wax.

Whether using containers or molds for your aromatherapy herbal candles, hold the wick as close to center as possible, and then pour the wax into the molds or containers, leaving at least 2cm of the wick uncovered.

Allow the wax cool for at least a couple of hours before placing the candles into the fridge overnight. The following day, remove the candles from the fridge, and if you have used a mold, remove this from the outside of the candle. And you now have your very own, tailor made, aromatherapy herbal candles.

Not only will they provide you with health benefits once you light them, aromatherapy herbal candles make great gifts, so consider making several at once for this purpose.
